Second life is very educating, especially the PORN sims and the NAZI FURRIES sims.Yeah, right, education in second life, and that's without even mentioning the money greed surrounding this game, to pay real money for virtual items.

I believe that would be preferable to many ppl... based on the context it would eliminate most violence.. war... suffering... It dosn't sound like a bad idea to me.

I own a corporate education negotiations training firm, and I think that for the first time, the promise of "on-line learning" is going to be answered by SL. With tough economic times, firms do not want to fly people around the world, but they also have not found any other technologies to teach soft skills, like negotiations. SL provides the primal/visual environment that people need to learn, that is being being able to interact "face-to-face". Thanks for posting this video.

I think the fact that second life is a janky piece of crap is the thing holding it back from being used as an educational tool. If van gogh saw one of those freaky looking people hobbling around in a low resolution replica of his paintings he would chop off his other ear and rip out his eyes.

It's a nice idea and all, but second life isn't built specifically for education, so it's nothing more then something that might be engaging or interesting only part of the time. The community is extensive so it's not practical to tout it as a potential educational tool. Besides, this isn't a virtual world, it's a game, an actual virtual world, by definition, is 'virtual reality'. If this is a virtual 'world' so is every game I've ever played. It's not a world, it's a community at best.
