Two weeks prior to JFK's hit there was a hit in Vietnam. Col. Lucien Conein (CIA) was the point man. JFK stated in his audio diary that he never wanted that to happen. Conein also happens to be standing on the corner as JFK's limo enters the kill zone in Dallas. Apparently Truman had some crazy notion that CIA/Pentagon and JFK were not getting along regarding policy and felt that writing an article a few weeks after his hit was warranted.
